CTI coordinates


WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO JOIN CTI

There are five classes of Canadian Textiles Institute (CTI) membership: 

  • Supplier Members - Open to most firms in Canada that manufacture, distribute or supply goods and/or services to Canadian textile manufacturers.

  • Financial Institution Members - Open to firms that provide financial services (such as banking and factoring) to Canadian textile manufacturers.

  • Affiliate Members - Open to firms that participate in designated CTI activities (such as government procurement) who are not eligible for other classes of membership.

Membership Class Descriptions: 

Manufacturer Members

  1. Manufacturer membership shall be available to any corporation actively engaged in Canada in the manufacture, dyeing, finishing or other allied processing of textile fibers, yarns, fabrics or products. Applicants for Manufacturer membership that are partnerships or sole proprietorships may be admitted as Manufacturer members at the discretion of the board of directors of the Institute.
  2. It shall be a condition of admission as a Manufacturer member, that the application for membership as a Manufacturer member shall include all eligible divisions of the applicant. For the purposes of these by-laws "division" shall have the same meaning as the term "affiliated bodies corporate" under the Canada Business Corporations Act or its successor except that it shall also include unincorporated divisions of the same body corporate.
  3. Each Manufacturer member shall advise the Secretary of the Institute within ten (10) days of becoming a Manufacturer member as to the name and address of the Delegate of the Manufacturer member. Any change in the Delegate of a Manufacturer member shall be provided to the Institute forthwith upon such change becoming effective.
  4. Each Manufacturer member is entitled to receive notice of, attend and vote at all meetings of members and each Manufacturer member shall be entitled to one (1) vote. 
  5. Manufacturer members are also entitled to receive all institute publications and services.

Supplier Members

  1. Supplier membership shall be available to any corporation, partnership or individual owner (not eligible for Manufacturer membership) actively engaged in Canada in the manufacture, distribution or supply of goods or services for use by firms that are eligible for Manufacturer membership; provided that corporations, partnerships and individual owners engaged exclusively in the importation of man-made textile fibers, textile yarns, textile fabrics or textile products shall not be eligible for Supplier membership.
  2. Supplier members are entitled to:
    • Receive the Institute’s weekly newsletter TEXNOTES and other designated publications.
    • Attend Institute annual conferences and annual meetings, but shall not have a vote at the latter.
    • Participate in other CTI activities upon invitation. 

Financial Institution Members

  1. Corporations, partnerships or individual owners eligible for Supplier Membership but engaged solely in the provision of financial services such as banking and factoring.
  2. Financial Institution members are entitled to:
    • Receive the Institute’s weekly newsletter TEXNOTES and other designated publications.
    • Attend Institute annual conferences and annual meetings, but shall not have a vote at the latter.
    • Participate in other CTI activities upon invitation.  

Non-Resident Manufacturer Members

  1. Non-Resident Manufacturer membership shall be available to any corporation, partnership or individual owner not eligible for Manufacturer membership and which is actively engaged in the manufacture, dyeing, finishing or other allied processing of textile fibres, yarns, fabrics, or products in a country other than Canada which is a party to the North American Free Trade Agreement or its successor.
  2. Non-Resident Manufacturer members are entitled to:
    • Receive the Institute’s weekly newsletter TEXNOTES and ther designated publications.
    • Attend Institute annual conferences and annual meetings, but shall not have a vote at the latter.
    • Participate in other CTI activities upon invitation.

Affiliate Members

  1. Firms not eligible for Manufacturer, Supplier or Non-Resident Manufacturer membership as defined in paragraph 46 of By-law No. 1, and not excluded from membership by any provision of paragraph 46 of By-law No. 1, who wish to participate in designated CTI activities may be invited by the Board of Directors to join the Institute as Affiliate members.
  2. Affiliate members are entitled to:
    • Receive the Institute publications and services related to the designated activity.
    • Receive the Institute’s weekly newsletter TEXNOTES and other designated publications.
    • Attend Institute annual conferences and annual meetings, but shall not have a vote at the latter.
