CTI has a long history of representing the interests of the Canadian textile industry and has taken a leadership role on behalf of the industry on many issues and occasions. For example:

In 1997, CTI agreed, at the request of Environment Canada, to organize participation by all textile manufacturers engaged in "wet processing" in a Survey of Textile Mill Effluents.
